Dear Members,
As you may have heard, the Royal Kennel Club invited The Boston Terrier Club to a meeting to discuss changes to our breed standard that were proposed by the Scottish and Southern Boston Terrier Clubs. Two representatives from each of the four clubs attended.
At this meeting some changes to the proposals were agreed on by all the clubs and by the RKC Breed Standards Committee representatives, however it now appears that these changes have not been recorded. This is disappointing.
We have written to the RKC to seek clarification on why the agreed changes were not made and are waiting for a reply.
We, the Boston Terrier Club Committee, have significant concerns about some of the revisions that are being proposed, most notably the tail. We are concerned that these changes could have far-reaching and unintended consequences for the future of our breed.
We invite you, as members, to email our Secretary with your comments on the proposed revisions by 17th March 2025.
